According to Netflix, 'The Glory' and 'Mask Girl' have secured nominations for the Best Foreign Language Series category at the 29th Critics' Choice Awards, scheduled to take place on January 14, 2024.
The Critics' Choice Awards, recognizes excellence in various categories of film and television. In the same category at the 28th Critics' Choice Awards, the drama 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' starring Park Eun Bin, was nominated, and in the 27th edition, the Netflix series 'Squid Game' emerged victorious, with actor Lee Jung Jae receiving the Best Actor Award in the drama series category.
'The Glory' tells the compelling story of a woman who endured a traumatic childhood marred by violence, dedicating her life to meticulous preparation for revenge. The series quickly gained popularity, amassing 124.46 million viewing hours in just three days after the release of Part 2. It claimed the top spot in Netflix's Global TOP 10 TV (non-English) category, securing the number one position in various countries, including Korea, and making it into the TOP 10 list in a total of 79 countries.
On the other hand, 'Mask Girl' revolves around Kim Momi, an ordinary office worker with appearance-related insecurities who dons a mask every night and becomes entangled in an unexpected incident while working as an internet broadcast BJ. The show delves into Kim Momi's eventful life and has garnered widespread attention for its powerful performances, a dynamic cast of three characters, and its exploration of diverse genres like social criticism and black comedy. It fearlessly tackles a range of societal issues, including school violence. Shortly after its release, 'Mask Girl' secured the top spot in the Netflix Global TOP 10 TV (non-English) category and made its way into the TOP 10 list in 72 countries.
