Stray Kids is the 2nd highest-selling musical act in the United States so far this year.
On September 4 KST, JYP Entertainment announced that the boy group is only second to Taylor Swift when it comes to U.S. album sales, citing a tweet published by Chart Data earlier this week.
Stray Kids' 3rd full-length album '★★★★★ (5-STAR),' which was released back in June, broke the record for the highest-selling K-pop album in the United States so far this year, while their mini album 'MAXIDENT,' which came out last October, is the 10th best-selling album in the same category.
In the ranking of sales per individual album, '★★★★★ (5-STAR)' follows Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' and 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' and Travis Scott's 'Utopia,' ranking fourth overall.
Stray Kids' popularity has been steadily rising in the U.S. market, with three of their albums having placed on Billboard's main album chart Billboard 200 – starting with last year's mini album 'ODDINARY,' followed by 'MAXIDENT' and '★★★★★ (5-STAR).'
Meanwhile, the boy group will be among the K-pop acts appearing at this year's 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, where they will be performing their single "S-Class." The ceremony will air via MTV on September 12 local time.
I can confirm this! I work at a Walmart here in Texas and we have a Kpop music section in our Electronic department. When they put out the display for the last Stray Kids album 5-star, all the copies were gone in two days! Seventeen and Ateez albums have done well too, but nothing like the craze and excitement I saw for SKZ. They are very loved and popular here in the USA. 👏❤️
