IU has continued demonstrating her philanthropic spirit by making a considerable donation on her 15th debut anniversary.
On September 18, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced, "IU donated a total of 300 million KRW (~226,563.96 USD) to Seoul Asan Hospital, the Korea Child Welfare Association, and Seoul Children's Hospital. This donation was made under the name 'IUAENA,' which merges the singer's name with that of her official fan club, UAENA."
The funds donated to Asan Hospital will be used to assist adolescent and female cancer patients who find themselves economically disadvantaged and overlooked in medical welfare. The Korea Child Welfare Association will use IU's contribution to implement environmental improvements in child welfare facilities nationwide, some of which have suffered from typhoon-linked catastrophes.
Moreover, plans for the Seoul Children's Hospital include deploying donations to support medical expenses incurred by underprivileged groups, as well as initiatives such as remodeling development centers and other initiatives to enhance the therapeutic environment.
Besides these recent donations, IU has a history of significant contributions in the past and throughout the year.
Earlier this year, she made notable donations to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation on Children's Day in May and supported fundraising for coal briquettes for economically disadvantaged households in Yangpyeong. She also generously donated her time and talent to the disabled students of Milal School, embodying the essence of the modern role model.
IU and her fan club, 'UAENA,' have consistently committed to helping those in need. They are trying to set positive examples and foster a climate of shared positivity and warmth.
In a statement, IU thanked her fans, saying, "Thanks to our 'UAENA,' who always sends me unwavering support, I am delighted to help share warmth in society. We have built memories and valuable experiences together. As 'IUANA,' I believe in sharing the love I've received and initiating small, positive changes in people's lives. Thanks to 'UAENA,' I am constantly learning gratitude. I love you. See you soon."
Since her debut with the track "Lost Child" in 2008, IU has had a consistent string of successful releases and has become one of the most beloved artists in Korea. The multi-talented artist has also made a name for herself as an actress, with her roles in 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,' 'My Mister,' 'Hotel Del Luna,' 'Broker,' and 'Dream.'
As IU celebrates her 15th anniversary this year, she continues to pursue exciting ventures. Despite a packed schedule due to shooting the drama 'You Have Done Well,' she successfully hosted the media art exhibition "Moment" from July 21 to August 20.
Later this month, she will hold the [2023 IU Fan Concert 'I+UN1VER5E'] at the Seoul KSPO DOME on the 23rd and 24th, ensuring her fans have plenty to look forward to.
She's always been a sweetheart. Luv her.
