Actor Lee Byung Hun commended director Hwang Dong Hyuk for his storytelling abilities. In an interview for Lee Byung Hun's latest movie, 'Concrete Utopia', the actor also shared some insights about the popular Netflix series, 'Squid Game'.
Lee revealed the first season of 'Squid Game' was created without any plans for a follow-up season. He explained that during a dinner with the director, he expressed his curiosity about the possibility of a second season as it was his first time participating in a series. The director responded, saying, "I'm never doing TV again."
Lee Byung Hun then went on to praise director Hwang Dong Hyuk, sharing an anecdote about his dedication to the project. The director reportedly faced a lot of difficulties, losing several teeth during the course of filming. However, despite the challenges, he decided to continue telling the story because of how big the series had gotten. Lee Byung Hun added, "I have to say, he is truly a talented storyteller, creating something remarkable out of nothing."
Reflecting on the global anticipation for 'Squid Game' season 2, Lee Byung Hun acknowledged the numerous speculative articles from foreign media. "I think I saw a few, but none of them were right," he said laughing. Nonetheless, he stressed that the story for the upcoming season is genuinely intriguing, leaving fans eager to see what unfolds.
