In the wake of the skyrocketing success of the Netflix series 'Mask Girl,' based on a webtoon with the same title, it has just been revealed that another piece from the creators of 'Mask Girl' is undergoing a transformation into a drama series.

The announcement that 'The Great Bang Ok Sook' by the renowned webtoon creators, Maemi and HeeSe, will be crafted into a drama has created quite a buzz.

On August 28, an online community post revealed, "Another work by the creators of 'Mask Girl' to be created into a drama."

According to the post, the same creators, Maemi (story) and HeeSe (art), who produced the webtoon that inspired the popular drama 'Mask Girl,' are also having another one of their works adapted into a drama. 

'The Great Bang Ok Sook' has been a greatly loved webtoon, serialized on Naver Webtoon from May 2019 through September 2020. Well-received by audiences aged 12 and above, it proudly boasted a high rating of 9.95 out of 10 during its run. Many consider it a worthy successor to 'Mask Girl,' which originally ran from August 2015 to June 2018, targeting a mature demographic due to its mature content.

'The Great Bang Ok Sook' weaves an intricate tale about a group of women who discarded a body in the Han River in an urgent bid to shield their cherished riverside view area from a looming redevelopment project. The plot intricately delves into the precarious struggles faced by the protagonist, Bang Ok Sook, the apartment women's association, and the influential figures spearheading the redevelopment plans.

Sports News first reported the news on August 24, hinting that the renowned actress, Yeom Jung Ah, has been approached to assume the lead role in the drama. Talks are still ongoing to finalize details.

A representative from Yeom Jung Ah's agency, Artist Company, confirmed these rumors, stating, "Her participation has not been officially confirmed, but it is currently under consideration. Indeed, she received an offer to play the role of 'The Great Bang Ok Sook.'" With this affirmation, it appears that the drama is steadily progressing toward production, with the challenging task of casting in full swing.

Webtoon enthusiasts who have savored 'The Great Bang Ok Sook' are already expressing their eagerness for the drama adaptation with comments like "It looks like it's going to be really exciting," "I enjoyed the original work, so I have high expectations," "I thought it would be great if the webtoon was adapted into a drama or a movie, so I'm excited," "Oh, I'm looking forward to it," and "Yeom Jung Ah is a perfect fit for the role!!"
