The rumor began when a Jeju BBQ restaurant took to its official social media to share photos of both celebrities posing with the restaurant manager on the same day. The photos led netizens to wonder if the two had gone to the restaurant together, leading to suspicions that they were on a date.

However, the rumor was dismissed as a coincidence by both of their agencies. Soyou's agency Big Planet Made stated, "Soyou recently went to Jeju Island to film something. Her visiting the same place as Lim Young Woong is only a matter of their trips overlapping and is unrelated." Lim Young Woong's agency Mulgogi Music also confirmed the dating rumor is false.
