HYBE Labels and BeLift Lab's idol survival program 'R U Next?' collaborated with a bank to create the most capitalistic way to support a contestant.
On June 23rd, toss bank announced its latest savings account in collaboration with the upcoming girl group survival program 'R U Next?' Anyone over 17 can open these savings accounts and will be able to select a contestant of their choice when opening the account. These savings accounts will then show the total amount saved under each contestant, just like many of the voting rankings on any survival show.
While these accounts are promoted as "support your contestant while also saving and earning money on interest" many people seem uncomfortable with this capitalistic way of showing support. Comments such as "Reminds me of 'Debut or Die'," "This will simply have the one with the most money to save make her idol win," and "Who came up with this stupid idea?" showed many people's disapproval.
Meanwhile, 'R U Next?' will premiere on June 30th. These savings accounts provide an APY of 2% before taxes.
This is episode of Black Mirror. HYBE is sick, they need Jesus.
