Many people consider the second-generation to be the pinnacle of K-Pop, aka the "Golden Age," while others may not agree. Nevertheless, one thing we can all agree on is that the songs remain bops even after a decade! So here are ten of the best bopping second-generation groups to listen to!
1. MBLAQ: While in the beginning, MBLAQ became the center of the stage for being a group produced by veteran singer Rain, soon enough, it wasn't who created them that was the spotlight, but their unique sound and music. MBLAQ was never afraid to try out different styles and different music. Comparing "Oh Yeah," "This is War," "Stay," "Cry," and "Mona Lisa," there's something for everyone!
2. 4minute: 4minute was one of the groups whose sound just got better and better as years went on, earning much love with their debut hit "Hot Issue," 4MINUTE continued to come out with more bops that many fans even now can't forget!
3. After School: You got to give After School some credit. While they might not have been in the main spotlight due to the stiff competition of girl groups during that time, many of their songs were soy catchy, and who can forget the ultimate song, "Diva?"
4. KARA: While their debut was off to a rocky start, they more than made up for it through the discography. As they matured in age, so did their concepts; their songs and song after song just became even more catchy. I think these songs aged like Wine as they just get better over time.
5. INFINITE: Lo and behold, the first idol group not from the Big 3 to really make it far in the K-Pop entertainment, on the bridge of bankruptcy and breaking up, INFINITE shot to stardom with their hit "Be Mine" and since then have made a mark in K-Pop history, also you can't forget they also were the group that made the title of "knife choreography!"
6. 2NE1: Although their time together was limited, they certainly made an impression. Different from many girl groups from before their era, 2NE1 gained many fans with their fierce, bold, and girl crush concepts!
7. TVXQ: The princes of Asia, little did these members know that that they would come to dominate the K-Pop scene, not just on a domestic scale, but all across various Asian countries!
8. Miss A: Miss A had many charms. We had the dancers, rappers, vocalists, and not to mention their songs were also pretty great. Can't forget "Bad Girl, Good Girl," "Good-bye Baby," and "Hush!"
9. U-KISS: Probably one of the most ethnically diverse groups to make a debut, U-KISS really was an underrated group. It wasn't until their hit songs, such as "Man Man Ha Ni," and "Round and Round," that many people started to actually pay heed to them. But if you actually dive into their discography, they have some of the best tunes to listen to. "0330," just hear Soohyun reach those high notes, and "Neverland" along with "Standing Still" and "Stop Girl!"
10. f(x): If there's a group that did the bold and electronic concept the best, you have to give that crown to f(x). They had some of the most unique styles, not just in stage outfits, performances, but also in songs!
Looking back, it really was a golden era! Imagine if all these groups made a return to the stage; that'd be one momentous event!
