Mnet's K-Pop idol survival programs have triumphantly returned to the spotlight. But is 'Boys Planet' a blatantly veiled, renewed version of the 'Produce' series, which came to an abrupt end after being charged with "broadcast manipulation", or are there actually, and miraculously, aspects that have changed, maybe even improved?
One of the hottest names coming out of the buzz around 'Boys Planet' is undoubtedly the show's current #1-ranked trainee, Sung Han Bin.
And potentially, for the first time ever, Korean netizens are fighting (they'll never stop fighting, for sure) about issues that are rather different from #1-ranked trainees of past 'Produce' seasons. Is Sung Han Bin a "plastic monster", or is he a "queen"? Or is he ranked #1 not "just" because of his looks, but because of his talents?
Soon after his becoming introduced to viewers as the "center" of the K-Group for the first time in "Here I Am", pre-debut photos and videos of Sung Han Bin surfaced online like wildfire.
At first, some fans initially attempted to pass the issue off as a matter of "weight-loss". They said, "That's what happens when you lost enough weight for a small child to walk out of your body", "I look like a different person too from when I was chubby in middle school", and on.
But eventually, a somewhat debated consensus formed. It was, "Honestly, there's no way all he did was lose weight."
So then comes the other side of that argument: "So what if he got plastic surgery? Isn't it commendable that someone with as much talent as passion as him actually took control of his fate and touched up his looks, knowing that it would open up that many more opportunities for him?"
The debate still very much goes two ways, with neither side yielding to the other. There are many who say,
"Those pre-debut pics killed it for me."
"Without plastic surgery he would never have been able to set foot in the idol world."
"Uhhhh... that's like his nose, his chin, his eyes... at least his whole face."
"Before surgery, he looks like my boss."
"Isn't it a little too much for a plastic monster to be 1st place..?"
"The power of plastic surgery... He was practically reborn!"
"Take the plastic monster out of the top 9."
But of course, the 'Boys Planet' votes themselves are proof that there are many who are saying,
"Plastic surgery was a the best decision he ever made."
"He used to be cute before."
"All that matters is that he looks good on camera now."
"Taking care of your visuals, including surgical procedures, is a celebrity's job. He's obviously talented, and he knows what other responsibilities this industry comes with. How much more perfect of an idol could he be?"
"He's good at singing and dancing. He lost a ton of weight. He looks like a model K-Pop idol now. If that's not effort, I don't know what is."
"It's that 'I'm gonna do whatever it takes to make it' mentality that I like."
Ultimately, what remains to be seen is, will Sung Han Bin maintain his #1 rank and successfully debut as a member of the 'Boys Planet' winning group?
Knetz when a no PS idol or chubby idol joins a group: omg they're ugly!! bringing down groups visual... omg so fat lose weight, im worried for them..
Knetz when idol gets PS or loses weight: plastic monster!! soo fake!! continues body shaming anyway
you literally can't win with these people... I hope if he did get PS that he did it for himself to be happy. That's all.

He looks good, he's indeed talented, eloquent, has the star appeal to attract people onstage & his personality is just the best. I don't see any reason to stop supporting him.
