All of an album's songs that are not the title tracks are referred to as "B-sides." As opposed to the lead single or the A-side tracks, B-side tracks typically receive less attention and don't usually become more well-known than the lead single due to the title song receiving more attention in general. In 2022, many K-pop B-side tracks went viral and achieved widespread success, proving that these songs can be just as deserving of recognition as their "title track" counterparts.

DARARI - TREASURE

TREASURE is one of those groups whose B-side tracks are always as good as their title tracks. “Darari” is one of the B-side tracks of the first mini album of TREASURE, titled ‘THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER ONE.’ “Darari” ended up being one of the most popular K-pop releases of 2022 and became TREASURE’s first song to exceed 100 million streams on Spotify. The rappers of TREASURE - Choi Hyunsuk, Yoshi, Haruto, and ex-member Bang Yedam participated in producing the track. Soon after the song was released, a TikTok challenge was made by one of TREASURE’s fans. The challenge quickly gained popularity. A lot of idols, including TREASURE members, as well as fans and non-fans, participated in the challenge. “Darari” is now the most-used K-pop song by a boy band on TikTok in 2022. The rock vibes in the song and the chorus is off the chain.

POLAROID LOVE - ENHYPEN

ENHYPEN is another fourth-generation boy group whose B-sides track went viral in 2022. They released “Polaroid Love” as one of the tracks of their first repackage album, ‘DIMENSION: ANSWER.’ The song was already good, and their fans made Polaroid Love more popular by creating and making challenges on TikTok using the song. “Polaroid Love” went viral and became one of the best K-pop b-sides of the year. The track was the third-most used song by a fourth-generation boy group on TikTok in 2022. The members of ENHYPEN participated in the dance challenge, along with many other K-pop idols.

MY BAG – (G)I-DLE

(G)I-DLE is currently the talk of the town. They gained not only fame but also some impressive accomplishments in 2022. Early last year, (G)I-DLE released their first full-length album, “I Never Die.” The title track of the album, “Tomboy,” became an immense hit and earned them the first Perfect All-Kill of their career. “My Bag,” a B-side track of the album, also started trending along with the lead single. It became the second-most streamed song from the album on Spotify. “My Bag” also charted well in the Korean music charts. (G)I-DLE released a choreography practice video of “MY BAG” on YouTube, which currently has more than 53 million views. The opening sequence and hip-hop melodies and dope verses have me keeping this song on repeat.

BTBT – B.I

Kim Hanbin, popularly known as B.I, is flying high after debuting as a solo artist. In 2022, B.I released his second Extended Play album, “Love or Loved Part.1.” “BTBT” is a B-side track of the album, which has become one of the most popular solo releases of B.I. For the single, he collaborated with DeVita and Soulja Boy. “BTBT” is another K-pop B-side track that went viral in 2022. The song became popular among both K-pop and non-K-pop fans. This ended up being his most streamed solo song on Spotify. B.I released a performance film video of “BTBT” on YouTube, which has suppressed more than 43 million views till now. The rhythm and the r&b vibes are top notch.

PINK VENOM - BLACKPINK

This K-pop group needs no introduction and any B-sides track by the world’s biggest girl group is viral material. BLACKPINK returned to the music industry in August 2022 after two years of hiatus. The second full-length album of the group, “BORN PINK,” was released in September and broke records left and right. They released the music video of their pre-release single “Pink Venom” on August 19, which is one of the B-sides of the album. The song and choreography are both catchy enough to attract people and gain attention. The "Pink Venom dance challenge" quickly gained popularity among netizens and attracted participation from fans, non-fans, and numerous K-Pop idols. The music video is currently the most viewed K-pop video of 2022 and is considered one of the best b-sides.

RUN BTS - BTS

K-pop sensation BTS released their first anthology album, “PROOF,” after eleven months after their last release. “Run BTS” is the most popular B-side track of the album. Some fans like this song even more than the lead single, and it went viral on many platforms. BTS first posted the BUSAN concert video of “Run BTS” on YouTube on October 16. Then they released a dance practice video of “Run BTS” on November 13, five months after the release of the album. Soon, it became a hot topic of discussion among fans. Everyone was drooling over the flawless dancing of the members. The dance practice video currently has more than 51 million views.
