On November 4, 2022, leaked Discord communication between several girl group fandoms on Twitter, revealing alleged voting bot manipulation done by several fandoms for MAMA 2022. The leaked communications reveal not only the fandoms involved but also the game plan used by them for the bot voting. While at the same time publicly claiming all votes done by them were organic and manually made.
Girl group fandoms allegedly involved belonging to the following groups: LOONA, Brave Girls, Dreamcatcher, Kep1erand IVE. Which has caused both outrage from other fandoms not involved and sadness for fandoms that had collaborated with the girl group fandoms involved in the possible voting manipulation via bot use.
Moreover, many fandoms are already tagging the MAMA 2022, Mnet, and Spotify accounts on Twitter, including some mentioning sending letters regarding the possible voting manipulation made by the fandoms for their groups with the use of bots. Which follows the "2022 MAMA"awards issued warning against fraudulent votes hours before the alleged voting via bot's news breaking on Twitter. Many are also raising questions in regard to voting for boy groups as well.
Needless to say, kpop fans are interested in how the organizers will address the possible vote manipulation made by fans via bots and are worried that the groups might even be disqualified. This would be a sad end result not only to the groups themselves, but the members in the fandoms that were innocent regarding alleged bot voting.
What do you think MAMA 2022 response to bot voting for the fandoms involved should be? Should the groups be removed from the Global Fan Vote category if the allegations are proven true?
Why tarnish your groups name and the fandom by bote voting for award shows. I get it. There are more popular groups but disrespecting your group and the fandom is just not the move. It is embarrassing.
