A Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 SUV, which is believed to have been driven by BTS's Jungkook, garnered much attention after it appeared at a rare item auction site.
On November 16, Newsen reported that a Mercedes Benz AMG G63 Edition, known to be owned and driven by Jungkook himself, was found on the art auction website blacklot, an auction site specializing in rare items.
According to reports, the Benz was purchased by Jungkook under his own name back in 2019 and had been in his possession for two years. Then the vehicle was sold to a collector this past March and has been kept in storage since that time.
The auction's opening bid was reported to be 150 million KRW (~112,197 USD), which is 60-70 million KRW cheaper than the market price of the same model released in the same year. One industry official pointed out that the reason the vehicle appeared in a rare item auction is that the Mercedes is an AMG edition, which belongs to the limited edition axis.
The official also explained, "This was Jungkook's favorite car. The fact that the owner wants to find a new owner who is a collector and can value the car also played a factor in putting it in the auction."
Regarding the vehicle auction, Blacklot posted an auction notice page on the official site on November 9. The page also contained detailed photos taken from various angles of the actual vehicle, vehicle specifications, and a quality evaluation of the performance condition.
On the other hand, regarding the Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG G63 Edition, the Blacklot only briefly mentioned that it was a 'vehicle driven by a global celebrity' instead of directly stating that it was owned by Jungkook.
As of this writing, the highest bid is 320,000,000 KRW (~239,000 USD). The auction began at 10:00 AM on November 14 and ends on November 21 at 4:00 PM KST.
As it is open to the public online, prospective collectors interested in the vehicle can check the trend of the auction in real-time. In addition, an entertainment industry official explained that the current owner, who put the vehicle up for auction, plans to donate a portion of the sales to charity.
And how do they know that he personally drove it. It just says it’s his favorite car. Every company’s marketing strategy is just BTS now
