#TheAstronaut by #Jin becomes the biggest K-pop solo song debut on Spotify
On October 28, Jin's first solo single, 'The Astronaut,' was released on numerous music platforms globally.
On the same day, Jin performed his song at the Coldplay concert at the 70,000+ seat stadium in Argentina, accompanied by the group. Chris Martin introduced Jin as his dear friend, and their interactions were very genuine and touching. The concert was attended by thousands of Jin's fans as well. Ten hours before the concert, Jin held a live stream, where he revealed the process behind the creation of 'The Astronaut.' After receiving the guide to the song, Jin started working on it. He wrote his own lyrics, added Korean motives to the melody, and actively participated in the process of producing and composing. The 'astronaut' metaphor belongs to Jin, who has already written a song about the 'Moon' and 'Earth' back in 2020.
The music video was filmed in September, and Jin basically directed every scene and detail of it. Full of ideas, Jin added so many touching things to the music video, as well as symbolic moments and metaphors. It's basically a whole new world that feels cozy and welcoming.

Seokjin said that initially only the 1st verse was in Korean and the 2nd verse was in English, but Chris Martin was impressed by his Korean lyrics and asked him to write the 2nd verse in Korean too. He had filming the next day, but still completed the song.

And it's also the 5th biggest K-pop solo debut on the USA chart. Overall, it debuted on the Spotify charts of 55 different countries.
'The Astronaut' successfully performed on the iTunes charts as well. It became the first K-pop song to debut straight at #5 on the iTunes USA chart. In just 1 hour and 20 minutes (the fastest K-pop song to do that in 2022), it topped the chart with over 4k points, surpassing Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
An hour after the release, Jin was already at #1 on iTunes Worldwide Songs Chart. Three of his other solo tracks joined 'The Astronaut' in the Top 15.
By the way, a few days ago, Jin's track 'Super Tuna', surpassed Taylor Swift's album on the day of its release and took the #1 spot on USA iTunes. 'The Astronaut' topped the iTunes chart in all of the major music industry countries.
Topped the European Songs Chart as well. In the first 24 hours, Jin got #1 on iTunes in 97 countries! He is trending #1 on all of the said charts for 2 days straight.
The music video for 'The Astronaut' has reached 16.5 million streams, 3.4M likes, and 411k comments in the first 24 hours on Youtube. It surpassed the results of the trending new music videos uploaded by Harry Styles, Adele, Taylor Swift, and Meghan Trainor. It is still trending #1 on the Youtube Trends page, as well as #1 in South Korea.
As for the album's sales, 'The Astronaut' has reached #1 on all of the 5 US Amazon Digital Songs Charts!

On Korean Hanteo, 'The Astronaut' became the Highest Selling Solo Single Album on the first day of the platform's history with 700k+ sales, surpassing Lisa's "LALISA" with 300k. As for K-pop soloists' sales, Jin sold 700k+ copies in just 7 hours, making it the 3rd highest debut by a soloist in the chart's history. What's also impressive is that Jin set these records with only Korean sales since the shipping to Japan, China, the USA, and other countries is delayed.
