A former reporter and now YouTuber Lee Jin Ho revealed that Kim Shin Young did not hesitate to take the offer to host the 'National Singing Contest' despite the lower pay.
Previously, Kim Shin Young was announced as the new host of KBS1's 'National Singing Contest' following the passing of long-time MC Song Hae. Following the announcement, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho posted a video revealing the story behind the announcement.
According to Lee Jin Ho, the production team of the 'National Singing Contest' has been thinking of Kim Shin Young as the successor. Given the lower salary compared to other broadcasts, however, the team wasn't sure if Kim Shin Young would take their offer. It was reported the show pays out about 3 million KRW per show while the other broadcasts pay out about 6 million KRW to 7 million KRW per show for the hosts.
But it was reported Kim Shin Young did not hesitate to take the offer and even said the opportunity is her family's honor. She already filmed her first episode as the host on September 3rd, and it will start airing on October 16th.
Meanwhile, 'National Singing Contest' first began airing in May 1988 and has since become Korea's longest-running music show with over 2,000 episodes.
That's why the top 5 MCs never took the call. The job is for life unless you did any crime or ticked off Knetizens (most of the idiots don't watch the show, fortunately) but the connections & offers off the show you'll receive will be massive.
