Super Junior's Kyuhyun says he didn't plan to sign with SM Entertainment.
On the September 16th episode of 'Hidden Singer 7', Kyuhyun opened up about joining Super Junior and SM Entertainment. He expressed, "Super Junior originally debuted in 2005 with 'Super Junior 05' and was active. As I joined the team belatedly, I became active for promotions with 'U'."
When asked how he came to join the team, Kyuhyun said, "I won the gold prize at 'Star Contest of Memories'. At the recommendation of a friend, I went to another song festival, and SM Entertainment was there. They told me to come in for an audition, but I said no. I was in a situation where I received an award in the contest and signed a contract with Park Sun Joo. I was going to be a ballad singer. I had no intention of going to SM, but Park Sun Joo didn't call me. It was the time when her song 'Men and Women' came out, and she was too busy."
He continued, "I called SM in a hurry. I went because I was told to come, but that day happened to be the day of a group evaluation with Lee Soo Man. SHINee's Minho and EXO's Suho were trainees too. After it was over, Lee Soo Man told me, 'Let's work well together.'"
In related news, Kyuhyun featured as the hidden singer on the latest 'Hidden Singer 7'.
Funny. I'm sure he doesn't regret it
