'Produce 101' contestant Jung Joong Ji has taken his own life.

On September 20, Jung Joong Ji's mother revealed her son had passed away on Twitter. She wrote, "This is Jung Joong Ji's mother. My son took his own life. I can't describe how I feel right now."

According to the late singer and actor's mother, Jung Joon Ji died on the 9th, just 4 days after his 30th birthday. The funeral was held on the 11th at 9AM KST.

Jung Joon Ji starred in the plays 'Prison' and 'The Essence of Love'. He also participated in season 2 of Mnet's 'Produce 101' in 2017, but was eliminated in 64th place with 86,864 votes.
