HYBE Corporation has grown to be the biggest entertainment company in South Korea as it has been expanding from just a management company into a large corporation in many fields, including the IP business.

HYBE developed the fan community app called Weverse, where fans can communicate with one another and with their favorite artists. Fans are able to create posts that can be seen by the artist, and these artists can interact with fans by leaving comments on these posts. Additionally, artists are also able to post photos and messages for fans to see.

Recently, there have been reports that Weverse is developing further to include a function in which fans will be able to chat with their favorite idols, just like the subscription-based idol chat app 'Bubble.' Although artists won't be able to see the messages that are sent by fans, idols are able to send messages to fans in a messenger format.

According to some business reports, Weverse plans to update its service with various content with paid and free functions. In particular, it is said that some of the functions that are available in the NewJeans' official app 'Phoning.' 'Phoning is a communication app dedicated to the new girl group launched by HYBE's ADOR. The app has a chat function that is similar to 'Dear U's Bubble' in which idols can send messages in a chat format to their fans. It is expected that this function will be a paid function.

Already fans are getting excited about the new function that will be added to the Weverse app at the end of 2022. Fans commented, "This is good, I really wanted to do something like that, like chatting," "I really wanted to do the chat with just 1 on 1," "I was hoping it was not going to be a paid function," "I really want this," "I like Weverse the way it is now actually," "Well this chat is not an actual chat function though, just one-sided," "I wouldn't mind a group chat but I hope it's not individual chats," and "Please don't make it a paid function."
