TWICE's seven-year contract with JYP Entertainment will expire this year, leading many fans to gather their attention on whether the members will continue with the agency or not.
Luckily, things are looking positive for fans as they are expecting all of the TWICE members to renew their contract with JYP Entertainment.
On May 17, all the TWICE members opened their personal Instagram accounts for the first time in seven years. All the members uploaded a group photo of TWICE with captions such as "TWICE Forever" and "Once."
Therefore, Korean netizens are expecting the girls to renew their contract with JYP Entertainment and continue the promotions as a group.
Netizens commented, "I think all nine of them will renew their contract because they all opened their own Instagram accounts and had the group photo as the first post," "One of the members wrote 'start' and I feel she is saying TWICE will have a new start so I like how this feels," "Given that all nine members opened Instagram accounts and also have the similar bio and the same photo as the first post shows that they would continue," "I think it would be such a waste for TWICE to disband now, so I really want them to renew their contracts," "They should renew their contract, they're at their prime right now," "This is good," "The nine members are amazing," and "I really want them to renew their contract and then do some unit promotions and solo promotions."
Just wanted to share some thoughts based on articles and comments I've seen
1. Another way to look at it would be "even if we go our own separate ways, we'll always be Twice"... Kinda like SNSD. Just a thought. But it does seem like they are at the peak of their careers now and the perfect opportunity to capitalize in terms of promos, sales etc.
2. All grudges and biases against JYP aside, JYP and JYPE have managed Twice very well. Other groups being in the company won't effect their work. JYP mentioned in a talk that there is an entire team dedicated to managing Twice and their activities.
3. Just like becoming a kpop star is a hit or miss chance, so is making it big once in the industry. Slowing down promos would weaken the attention focused on Twice. They have their time as idols to create a wave they can ride for the rest of their careers.
4. While training and performing are very hard tasks, that's the entertainment industry. I'm a big fan, but I don't like to over-glorify the hard work put in. The hard work is bringing in tons of money, fame and popularity, which is essentially the main things you want from being an entertainer. Professional wrestlers also work all year around. They hold shows several times a week aside from the ones broadcast on TV. They get huge sums of money mainly through sales of the craft they trained for and perfected.
