Singer/ actor Rain delivered the hopeful news that he will be appearing in an American project that was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On February 22, Rain held a video interview with Star News to commemorate the end of the tvN drama 'Ghost Doctor.' 'Ghost Doctor' depicts the story of an arrogant yet genius doctor who dies and is forced to share a body with a resident.
On this day, Rain shared his thoughts on being an actor and being a singer in addition to the plans of his next project in the U.S. He shared, "Before, I thought there are limitations of being a singer. However, that was only a difference in opinion. I think the concept changed. I still want to dance well so I control my diet and want to work out."
He also explained that he's not a naturally funny person and can't make people laugh. He thanked those around him who helped him enter the entertainment program industry. He explained, "I can't make people laugh. So, I think I was able to do entertainment programs thanks to producer Kim Tae Ho, Jae Suk Hyung (Yoo Jae Suk), and Hyori Nuna (Lee Hyori)." He revealed that he wants to completely enter the variety program industry but is not yet confident.
During this interview, he garnered attention as he mentioned his projects overseas. After appearing in the 2019 MBC drama 'Welcome 2 Life', he auditioned for a project in the U.S., but his entry into the United States was canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. On this day, Rain showed strong confidence, saying, "I'm currently discussing these projects and I have a good feeling that I will be able to sign a contract."
Rain has been recognized as a talented actor by appearing in foreign works since the mid-2000s and also starring in the Hollywood movie 'Ninja Assassin.' Recently, Netflix originals 'Squid Game', 'Single's Inferno,' and 'All of Us Are Dead' have been successful consecutively, changing the way people view Korea overseas.
The singer explained, "Singers, dramas, and movies have become the center of the world. It's amazing. Actually, when I was on a world tour in 2005, I had a racial conflict. There were people who were prejudiced when seeing an Asian man trying to enter the American music market. Also in Korea, there was a prejudice that entry into the US will not be successful." He continued to say, "Ultimately, amazing juniors are taking first place in the global market. Now, it seems so natural. I'm proud we're so successful in the 2020s."
Ninja Assassin was a great introduction to Rain but it wasn't a movie that I liked lol. Still, he killed the role and Lee Joon also got a start to it and became known for being his younger self
