Fans have been anticipating the debut of Yuehua Entertainment's pre-debut boy group, TEMPEST, since January. While there are a few faces that fans haven't seen before but are excited to get to know, there are a few faces that fans are well aware of, such as Lee Eui Woong, who was a contestant on Produce 101 and known by his stage name, respectively, Hanbin, who was a contestant on I-LAND.
There is another member that some fans recognized the moment his photo was revealed.
This is Song Jaewon; he is a former DSP Media trainee and was a contestant on Under Nineteen who has been training for eight years.
Jaewon was born on April 23, 2001. His first public appearance was on the survival show Under Nineteen, which is the show that created the group 1THE9. During his time on the show, he showcased both his vocal and dancing abilities and formed friendships with the other contestants, who were also DSP Media trainees. Jaewon's final rank on the show was 32.
From Under Nineteen, Jaewon continued his training at DSP Media, home to the artists KARD and APRIL. During this time, Jaewon went on to create content including dance covers showcasing his excellent dance skills even further with the trainees who would form the group MIRAE and starring in J-Seph of KARD's music video up until his sudden departure months before the debut of the group.
So, where has Song Jaewon been?
In the estimated year since his departure, Jaewon has been under Yuehua Entertainment, gearing up for his long-awaited debut!
It is safe to say that some Jaewon stans were absolutely shocked, in awe, and blown away by his photo as the last time a photo of Jaewon was uploaded, his birthday selfie, which he was sporting dark blue hair to now rocking bleached hair. He still has his baby deer/fox image and charisma that fans were hoping wouldn't leave.
Now, under Yuehua Entertainment, gearing up for his debut in TEMPEST in March, Song Jaewon, whose stage name was previously Jaewon, took on the stage name Hwarang. His positions within the group also have changed since his last public appearance. Instead of being listed as a vocalist and dancer like he was in his previous company, Jaewon is now the main rapper, dancer, and composer of TEMPEST.
What a surprise!
It looks like this trainee will finally become the idol he's been dreaming of becoming!
