As of November 19 KST, 'Butter' by BTS has been chosen by Variety's editorial team as the 'Record of the Year.'
This selection will be celebrated at the Variety's Hitmakers Brunch Event on December 4.
This event is an invite-only brunch which will be presented by Peacock and the streamer's Emmy-nominated comedy series "Girls5eva". The cast and creator of the series will MC the event with videos that were recorded specifically for it.
Amazon Music will hold the red carpet pre-show and awards presentation with Variety.
The description for 'Butter's selection is as follows:
"BTS’ “Butter” – Record of the Year: The song “Butter” blasted out to the world in May, becoming a record smashing single for BTS. The writers and producers, including multi-hyphenate creatives/executives Jenna Andrews and Ron Perry, the K-Pop group’s own RM, Stephen Kirk, Alex Bilowitz and Rob Grimaldi, crafted the perfect hit that just won’t quit. BTS prepared a special video for the Variety Record of the Year honor."
Other awards presented will include big names such as Lana Del Rey for the Decade Award, Wendy Goldstein for the A&R Award, Lil Na X for the Innovator of the Year, and more!

Congrats BTS. It's not my favourite song released by them as BTS are more talented songwriters than the people in the US who gave them their English tracks. But their charm made it work.
