Actor Kwak Dong Yeon talked about Vincenzo's hot popularity.
Kwak Dong Yeon recently had an online video interview with My Daily.
He played the role of Jang Han Seok, the half-brother of main villain Jang Han Seo (Ok Taecyeon) in tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama Vincenzo, which ended on May 2.
Kwak Dong Yeon was cast as a popular "Vincenzo" actor, expressing the narrative of a dynamically changing character, showing various personalities, from an aloof boss to a humble person looking for validity.
In scenes with Ok Taecyeon as his half-brother, he exhibits bloody chemistry fighting for power to reach the top of Babel. While with Song Joong Ki, he demonstrated chemistry that was more like a brotherly bond. In addition, his deep inner acting evoked feelings of compassion. He created a villain people could not hate and led to a positive welcome of "Kwak Dong-yeon's reinvention."
He also talked about FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin being big fans of Vincenzo.
Kwak Dong Yeon said, "One day, at dawn, I got a call from Lee Hong Ki. He asked for Vincenzo spoilers, asking me what was going on. This was after Episode 16 aired and Hong Ki hyung asked what would happen in the next episode. In addition, Jae Jin hyung is serving in the army, and from there he gave me a phone call and said that he enjoyed Vincenzo very much."
Kwak Dong Yeon added, "Throughout my acting career, I had hardly ever communicated with people around me while the drama aired, but 'Vincenzo' got a lot of attention."
"I hope it will remain as a work, in the future, after 1 year or after 5 years even where viewers will say, 'It was fun to watch Vincenzo in times of the Covid-19 pandemic, I laughed a lot while watching it.' Hopefully, it will be remembered as such a work like that helped me through this difficult period for a while as well as helping other people too," he added.
I really think that thanks to Vincenzo he gained a lot of recognition, which he truly deserves because he’s one of the most versatile and talented young actors
