BTS Jungkook has been enjoying solid popularity worldwide. He is recognized for his talents, good attitude, and stunning looks, and it's proven with how he is becoming a global household name and how well his songs are doing.
Besides his obvious popularity in the United States and South Korea, one couldn't help but notice the recognition Jungkook has been receiving in Japan. Recently, Jungkook's solo song "Euphoria" becomes the first BTS solo song to receive Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) certification for streaming. With its streams having surpassed 30 million streams in Japan, "Euphoria" had received the RIAJ Silver certificate for streaming, the only BTS solo song to ever achieve this.
Earlier, Jungkook's "Euphoria" made headlines worldwide when it became the first K-pop male idol's solo song to be eligible for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold certificate, as it has sold over 500,000 units in the U.S.
The recognition Jungkook received in Japan as a singer didn't stop there, as he is recently voted as the #1 K-pop male idol with the best singing ability in an online Japanese survey.
Besides his success as a singer, Jungkook also thrives as a composer and songwriter in Japan. He had co-composed for two Japanese OSTs, i.e., "Your Eyes Tell" and "Film Out," working with Japanese producers and composers outside of HYBE Corporation (formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment).
For the record, Jungkook made the melody for "Your Eyes Tell" originally for his future mixtape, but since it turned out so good, it ended up in BTS Japanese album 'Map Of The Soul: 7 - The Journey' instead. It was previously reported that the movie director fell in love with Jungkook's demo and chose it out of all the demos sent by HYBE. With "Your Eyes Tell," Jungkook became the first foreign artist to compose an OST for a Japanese movie.
"Your Eyes Tell" had massive success when it first dropped, charted for 17 weeks on Billboard Japan Hot 100 and remains popular up until now. Recently, the OST had received the RIAJ Gold certificate for streaming, having surpassed 50 million streams in Japan.
Jungkook's second Japanese OST, which he co-composed, "Film Out," also had received major success both worldwide and in Japan. It became the first-ever BTS song to debut directly at #1 on Japan iTunes. "Film Out" also broke "Dynamite" record on Oricon Daily Digital Singles Chart, became BTS’s biggest sales debut ever on the chart, with 23,344 downloads in just a day.
