Despite being a rookie that debuted in 2019, TXT named themselves in the list of candidates for the music awards ceremony of the US "MTV Video Music Awards" ("VMA").
On July 23, "2019 VMA" announced the nomination list for each category on the official homepage.
In the awards ceremony this time, TXT was named in the list of nominations for BEST K-POP category with the b-side song "Cat & Dog" included in the debut album "The Dream Chapter: STAR" released in March. The group is also the only candidate among rookies debuting in 2019.
BEST K-POP is a new category in the list and will witness the competition among candidates BTS, Blackpink, Monsta, NCT 127, EXO and TXT.
"Cat & Dog" is a song using the relationship between the owner and the pet to explain the heart that wants to be together 24/24 hours when meeting someone. In the MV, TXT spreads the lovely teenage beauty thanks to the series of movement and gestures imitating the dog and the cat, highlighting the lyrics of the song. At the same time, the group showed their multifold charisma through strong and vibrant performance.
"MTV Video Music Awards" is a music awards ceremony held by the US' MTV. This year, "VMA" will select and present the prizes to artists nominated in 20 categories such as VIDEO OF THE YEAR, ARTIST OF THE YEAR, SONG OF THE YEAR, BEST COLLABORATION, etc. The awards ceremony will take place at Prudential Center, New Jersey, USA on August 26.
After releasing the debut album "The Dream Chapter: STAR", TXT set the highest records among the rookies that have debuted this year when taking No.140 on Billboard's main album chart - Billboard 200 and No.2 on Social 50 chart. Two months after the debut, the group successfully held the first overseas showcase called "TOMORROW X TOGETHER SHOWCASE: STAR in US" stopping by 6 cities in the US. In the album chart of the first half of 2019 published by Gaon Chart recently, TXT also proved the strength of a global super rookie when holding the highest record among rookies.
