A contest that is being held in Japan, EXA Kids, is currently under criticism as the contest’s logo looks a little too similar to SM Entertainment boy group EXO‘s logo.
Perhaps EXA Kids really liked how their first two letters were the same with EXO and also liked how the alphabets looked cool fitting into a hexagon and decided to “borrow” the design?

EXA Kids responded by saying that they simply didn’t do enough research and that that it was an instance of “overlapping”. They insisted that they did not plagiarize. Their official Twitter account emphasized that the two were just “similar”.
In addition, they issued an apology and stated that the design will be changed by next year.
Yeah that straight up the same logo. That’s like textbook plagiarism. Adding another line doesn’t change it that much. If SM wanted to sue, they would probably win (although I don’t know how the laws work regarding this type of thing on Korea or Japan, but in the US they would win).
