Actress Gong Hyo Jin's label has clarified reports she's the subject of a tax investigation.
According to reports, Gong Hyo Jin was facing a tax investigation due to the multiple buildings she owns. In April of 2013, the actress purchased a 5-story building in Seoul's Yongsan District amounting to 3.7 billion Won ($3,245,196.00 USD), borrowed 80% of the amount through a loan, and then sold the building in October of 2017 for 6.8 billion Won ($5,963,838.00 USD). In January of 2017, Gong Hyo Jin also purchased a 2-story building in Seoul's Mapo Region amounting to 6.3 billion Won ($5,525,419.09 USD) after investing 1.3 billion Won ($1,140,165.00 USD) of her own funds and loaning the rest through a bank.
On April 11, her agency SOOP Entertainment clarified Gong Hyo Jin underwent a tax investigation in 2017, and she's currently paid all her taxes in full. SOOP Entertainment stated, "After confirming with her, this tax investigation is for high earners. However, the buying and selling of the buildings in reports was already investigated 2 years ago. She's currently paid all her taxes. She'll be dutifully undergoing this tax investigation as well."

For people that make a lot of money, tax audits are hardly newsworthy. So-called journalists like to create these inflammatory headlines to pander to class envy. Last time I checked, making a lot of money was not a crime.
