Hongki reassured fans that he wasn't a part of the Seungri-Jung Joon Young controversy.
He was rumored to be one of the celebrities in the chatroom with Seungri and Jung Joon Young where hidden camera recordings were distributed. However, he came into his 'Solitary Room' KakaoTalk chat room (you can read more about 'Solitary Rooms' here) to reassure fans and say, "I woke up today and a mess has happened. Don't worry about it! See you at the live tomorrow."
His reassurance has fans breathing a sigh of relief. Hopefully no one innocent will be further swept up by rumors.
You know it's a mess when people who haven't even been NAMED feel like they have to get out in front of this to say they weren't involved. The sad thing is, it's probably because Seungri was such a sociable guy, that he had lots of connections and friends. Because K-netizens can be such "sleuths" when it comes to digging up history, I'm sure plenty of innocent idols, actors and actresses don't want a single picture or quote misconstrued given the severity of the situation. Hongki maybe the first, but I won't be surprised if he's not the last idol to have to come out and basically make some sort of "Hey, I didn't do it, so don't worry about me" statement to his fans. Some may disagree, but I think it's a smart move to make since people have already tried to draw connections to people like Kang Daniel and even Sehun of all people.
