On November 7, reports stated the final female and male units produced from 'The Unit' will be promoting together for 7 to 25 months. The initial contract is reportedly for 7-months, then it'll be extended another 6 months as necessary. If the demand for the units' promotion rises, the groups must promote up to 12 months longer, ultimately, adding up to a total of 25 months of promotion.
Some media outlets criticized the length and extension of the contract, stating the long promotion term can cause harm to the idol groups whose members are included in the final units.
In response to the reports, rep of 'The Unit' explained, "The final teams from 'The Unit' will be signing a 7-month contract. This is the term where they will focus solely on their units."
The rep continued, "Extension of the contract will take place, however, that term is not 6 months but 35 days. In agreement with all unit members, they will be promoting for extra 35 days within the 6 months (after the end of their initial 7-month contract)."
The rep also emphasized, "Promotion term after an extension of the contract is a part where agencies' complete agreement is needed. We are trying our best to be considerate of the final teams of the 'The Unit'."
Currently, 'The Unit' is airing every Saturday at 9:15 pm KST.
