This year marks one of the longest breaks for Chuseok with the holiday lasting from September 30 to October 9. Most businesses are temporarily closing down to enjoy the 10-day break, however, business is rather booming for many cosmetic surgery hospitals this Chuseok.
According to an October 4 news report by 'SBS Eight O'Clock News', many are taking the long break as an opportunity to undergo procedures that require downtime. Several cosmetic surgery hospitals are also presenting special promotions for Chuseok.
One hospital in Gangnam decided to close down only for 3 days and open for business for the rest of the holiday. The plastic surgeon of the hospital stated, "Appointments have already been filled 3 months ago. It's as if the people who are not traveling overseas (during the break) are all undergoing cosmetic surgery or procedures."
Skincare businesses have also seen a drastic increase in appointments. Dermatologist Im Yi Suk stated, "It seems like there are 3 to 4 times more patients for hair implants, and scar and mole removal which causes difficulty in daily lifestyle and requires you to not wash for a week to 10 days."
Demands for Lasek and Lasik surgeries have also significantly jumped. Thanks to Chuseok, cosmetic surgery industry is definitely experiencing one of the best seasons of the business.
