The latest gossip among fans of JYP Entertainment trainees is that the boy group survival program that the label had been discussing, coined as the boy group version of 'Sixteen' or 'Sixteen 2', will likely be cancelled.
It seems domestic fans are speculating/hoping for a debut reality show involving the above 9 trainees mentioned, as opposed to a survival program, which, if carried out, will likely include the 9 mentioned above, plus several newer trainees.
It was previously reported that JYPE was in the developing stages of a boy group survival show, set for the end of 2017. However, after news of JYPE's first ever Chinese boy group, BOY STORY, fans claimed that some of the Chinese trainees who were contenders for 'Sixteen 2' have been ruled out.
According to fan accounts from those who attended JYPE's latest trainee showcase in August, the label's newest boy group can be deduced to 9 members. Fans also claimed that the alleged 9 trainees have been spotted traveling in their 9-member pack recently.
Fans think the 9-member boy group will consist of the following trainees: Woojin (1997), Chan (1997), Minho (1998), Changbin (1999), Hyunjin (2000), Jisung (2000), Felix (2000), Seungmin (2000), and Jungin (2001).

Netizens' comments included, "I'm sorry but I don't think a male version of TWICE will succeed... GOT7 and DAY6 aren't exactly incredibly successful yet...", "All the male trainees are handsome", "If they're just gonna debut the members they already pre-picked to debut like 'Sixteen 1', it's better not to do a survival at all", "TWICE's 'Sixteen' wasn't even popular kekekeke. They didn't get popular until they debuted", "A group reality sounds more fun than an audition/survival", and more.
What do you think about the speculations going around?
