Kim Gu Ra said he was experiencing insomnia and tinnitus -- a sensation of ringing or buzzing in the ears, even when the sound actually is nonexistent. He visited a doctor and learned that he had anxiety disorder.
Kim Gu Ra's panic disorder reportedly took a turn for the worst when he received a phone call, alerting him that the court was seizing his property of residence due to his then wife's debt of over 1.7 billion KRW ($1.5 million). The broadcaster had belatedly learned that his wife had stood surety for her family's debt, and had tried to manage the situation without her husband's knowledge by borrowing more from others, including loan sharks.
Kim Gu Ra was admitted to the hospital because of his severe panic attacks. The broadcaster returned to television after a short break of 11 days.

Lee Sang Min has spoken publicly about living with anxiety, even showing the boxes of pills he carries with him every day. On the show "My Ugly Duckling," Lee Sang Min came an intimate look at his treatment, allowing the camera to follow his visit to the doctor. Hearing that all the meds he was taking could lead to an earlier onset of Alzheimer's disease, Lee Sang Min -- who has been on medication for over three years now -- shared his concerns that he was becoming more forgetful. Lee revealed that one time, he even used face cleanser to brush his teeth.
"It's a disease that isn't easy to treat," Lee admitted on the show "Rumor Has It." He also explained that many celebs appear to be affected by the illness because of the instability of their careers.

Jung Hyung Don
The source of laughter on several hit Korean reality programs, Jung Hyung Don shocked everyone when he announced his sudden hiatus in 2015 due to his severe anxiety disorder.
Jung Hyung Don's anxiety reportedly manifested in physical symptoms, including having trouble breathing and fainting. Lee Sang Min recalled that during filming for a television program, he saw Jung's face go completely white because of his anxiety.
As one reporter explained on the show "Rumor Has It' last month, Jung's anxiety reportedly originated from worries about his career. Jung's journey to success had been long, and when he finally achieved fame "by luck," he felt overwhelmed and feared that he'd suddenly lose it all.
Jung revealed that it got so bad that even when walking on the streets, he'd become paranoid that "someone might suddenly stab him for no reason."
Jung decided to take a break from show business because the fears became too much to bear. After taking some time to focus on treatment, he's since returned to television!
7.
Lee Kyung Kyu
The highly respected broadcaster is known for his refreshingly blunt personality. So it came of great shock when he revealed in 2012 that he was suffering from anxiety disorder.

Cha Tae Hyun
Cha Tae Hyun became a megastar after his iconic role in the film 'My Sassy Girl.' But in an appearance on the show "Healing Camp" in 2011, the actor revealed that he had struggled with panic disorder as his fame and productions declined gradually over time.
He shared a scary incident that occurred during his trip to a concert in China. He said that he had just eaten, and suddenly began sweating and having trouble breathing. It got so bad that he asked flight attendants for an oxygen mask and even asked if they could ground the plane and let him off. After the incident, the actor revealed he couldn't fly for some time, especially for destinations that were more than ten hours away.
Because of his panic disorder, Cha Tae Hyun said he also fainted and was admitted to the ER several time. He even tried taking MRI exams and got his heart condition checked. On the episode of "Healing Camp," he made everyone laugh by sharing that the doctor had advised him that "looking far into the mountains" would help whenever he suffered a panic attack.
But anxiety is certainly no laughing matter. And as more stars come forward about their personal battles -- Ga In of Brown Eyed Girls also recently shared on her Instagram account that she was being treated for anxiety and insomnia -- it paves opportunities for increased dialogue about this serious issue and assures all who are affected that they are certainly not alone.
