The recording for the annual event took place on January 16. Many fans also attended the event for their loving idols. To show appreciation, idol groups carefully prepared bento boxes for their fans, and photos of the loving preparations roamed the web. The issue arose as a Twitter account named 'Idol Star Athletics Championship Bento Box Broadcast Bot' started analyzing the bento boxes by each idol group.

The tweets compared the quality of the bento boxes and made comments such as, 

"As for Red Velvet, they gave out high-quality Outback-style lunch boxes but gave the lamest 'Lotteria' bulgogi burgers + 'Pepsi' cola for dinner. What was the reason for that? Because EXO's not here..? The decrease in quality might disappoint fans!"

"BTS's lunch bento boxes. Unlike a lot of groups who gave out hamburgers, Dakgangjeong, etc., they gave out fulfilling bento boxes. These people (ARMYs) must eat a lot..?"

Currently, netizens are criticizing the account holder for making "the dumbest account" and comparing bento boxes that were all prepared with love. Comments included, "Just eat what you get. Don't take their kindness for granted", "They turned the thoughtful efforts by the idols into nothing", "Starve these kind of people from now on!", and more.
