It was reported that the courts have penalized two netizens with monetary fines for defaming TV personality Heo Ji Woong, linking him to false rumors that he had sexually assaulted an actress.
The Seoul Western District Court announced on February 11 that they have penalized 57-year-old Heo and 48-year-old Cho with fines of 1.5 million KRW (~$1,252 USD) and 1 million KRW (~$835 USD) respectively.

Heo and Cho had been handed over to the courts after spreading the false rumor that "Heo Jin Woong left his pregnant wife to sexually assault Ms. Yang, an extra in films" on the infamous website Ilbe in December of 2014.
The courts explained, "The defendants have tarnished the reputation of Heo Ji Woong through the usage of communication channels to overtly expose a falsity with the goal of defaming him."
