The shocking story of a newborn baby that was hurled out the window came to light recently.
The Daegu District Court revealed on November 16 that it sentenced 'A', a woman in her twenties, to 1 year and six months prison, three years of suspended sentence, and one year of probation for the attempted murder of her newborn child.
'A' had tried to kill her newborn by throwing it out the window of a third floor villa in Gyeongsan City on the morning of November 6. Miraculously, the baby managed to survive, as it fell into a pile of plastic bottles, paper, and other kinds of garbage in an empty lot and was immediately transferred to a hospital after 'A's family dialed 119 (emergency number similar to 911 in the U.S.).

'A' had committed this horrific act after she became pregnant by having sexual relations with men she met online and was afraid that her family would find out about her pregnancy.
The courts stated, "This kind of crime involving an infant cannot be tolerated for any reason. We only made allowances after considering the fact that the defendant must have suffered immense stress not knowing who the father of the child is."
