YouTube channel sw yoon attempted to figure out a way with their recent video "How to distinguish Koreans." In the video, they asked a series of questions to random people to discover their ways of distinguishing Koreans from other Asians.
When asked how they would distinguish Koreans, there were a variety of answers. For example, the people in the video found that Korean girls have a distinct makeup style, from "caking up the makeup, the lipstick" and "trying to look similar" as well as BB cream and red lips. Meanwhile, Korean guys apparently have either the bowl cut or gelled and styled hair as their "standard haircut." While I can't disagree with the typical Korean guy haircut, I find it surprising that Korean girls are found to be wearing a lot of makeup, since today's Korean makeup trends emphasize a more natural, lighter makeup look.
The people in the video overwhelmingly admired the fashion of Koreans. From "cool and hip" and "neat and tidy," they found Koreans to have great fashion sense. Interestingly, however, two of the most distinctive parts of typical Korean fashion were found to be a box-ish, square-ish backpack as well as big glasses.

About the typical Korean personality, they overall found Koreans to be the "cool type" that tend to be very straightforward. Apparently, one man even found Korean guys to be more "playboy" than other Asians, a comment that I find particularly interesting as I've never heard this stereotype before. However, almost everyone agreed on one thing: that Koreans are LOUD. (But let's be real here: who isn't?)
Apparently there are also specific habits that make it easy to distinguish Koreans from other Asians. For example, almost everyone agreed that Koreans drink a lot. They also claimed that Koreans can sometimes be violent, especially when it comes to soccer. They also found Koreans to be rather clique-ish, as "they are always around with other Koreans."
One of the most defining traits that they found of Koreans was their love of spicy foods, especially - you guessed it - kimchi. According to more than a few of the interviewees, they immediately know when someone's Korean when they even smell like kimchi. To keep in line with the current world domination of e-sports, one girl commented that Koreans play a lot of League of Legends, which is definitely no surprise as Korea continues to dominate the world of e-sports.
And what do Koreans themselves think? "We are the freshest," two Korean men responded laughingly.
