Haitai is making bank in Korea and it's all thanks to the 'Honey Butter Chip' craze

You probably have heard of the famous 'Honey Butter Chips' by now. Korea is going crazy over these sweet yet salty concoctions; even K-Pop idols just have to grab some for themselves.

Soyu got some.

Krystal got some.

The demand for these godsent chips has been skyrocketing over the past couple of months, and Haitai, the ingenious creators, is doing its best to meet it by adding night and weekend shifts and raising production by 30-40%.

But it's still not enough. 'Honey Butter Chips' are so popular, that Koreans claim they are nearly impossible to find in stores because they are often sold out. They're getting so desperate that they're even buying the chips online at a higher price. There's even a smartphone 'Honey Butter Chips' hunting app that helps users locate where this specific brand of chips are available at real-time.

Yewon's even worshipping it.

After releasing the 'Honey Butter Chips' in August, Haitai reportedly earned over around 13.6 billion won (approx. $12.3 million USD) by the end of November. That's over 3 billion won (approx. $3.1 million USD) earned per month--a remarkable number for any new product.

According to Haitai, the 'Honey Butter Chips' contain a mixed flavor of French butter and acacia honey. With this sweet and salty combo, 'Honey Butter Chips' have been reigning the chips sales charts ever since October.

On December 19, Nongshim's 'Honey Mustard' chips dethroned 'Honey Butter Chips' as the chips with the highest sales. Some suspect that this is only because the 'Honey Butter Chips' are so elusive that people are settling for 'Honey Mustard' until they can finally get their hands on that sweet honey butteriness.
