30. Urban Zakapa "A Space Between"
Agency: Fluxus Music
Release Date: September 25, 2014
Soyu has made it big again singing a duet with indie group, Urban Zakapa. This particular MV narrates the story of two stranger who receive each other's orders due to an accident made by the delivery guys. The two decide to meet up in order to exchange items. The same mistake happens yet again and soon, the two realize that it is, more or less, fate.
29. Sunmi "Full Moon"
Agency: JYP Entertainment
Release Date: February 16, 2014
The MV is chilling but it's hard to look away as it narrates the story of a lonely vampire who holds a human body captive in order to fill the void. Sunmi shows chilling determination to be loved even if it means that she needs to turn her man into a vampire just like her. Although the MV is a bit creepy, Sunmi illustrates the desperate feelings of being in a hopeless love.
28. EXID "Up & Down"
Agency: AB Entertainment
Release Date: August 26, 2014
EXID is one of the hottest girl groups on a steady rise in the industry, and the MV to "Up & Down" is just as sensational as it is full of color and innuendo. The MV tries to hint at the constant objectification of women and their bodies and the way simple symbols can mean something unrelated depending on everyone's own perspective.
27. CNBLUE "Can't Stop"
Agency: FNC Entertainment
Release Date: February 23, 2014
Yonghwa gets involved in a relationship with a gorgeous foreign girl who lives in an alternate universe inside his mirror. Yonghwa keeps in contact with the girl by sending paper planes and flowers through the magical mirror. Overall, the MV is beautifully psychedelic and the ending is left hopeful as Yonghwa steps inside the mirror himself after breaking it with a chair.
26. HyunA "Red"
Agency: Cube Entertainment
Release Date: July 27, 2014
Rolling Stones pointed HyunA's "Red" as one of the best MVs of 2014. The theme of the MV is nothing special, as it seems to be a mesh of Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" and Miley Cryus' "We Can't Stop," but we all know we just can't get enough of HyunA and her undeniable sex appeal. There is a right balance of white, black, and, of course, red.
25. B.A.P "1004"
Release Date: February 2, 2014
This particularly melodramatic MV opens up with Yongguk running through the desert and transitions to Daehyun walking around a beautiful house full of memories of her. Himchan then takes over the scene and is happily watching the video of the girl. The MV reminds us of how volatile, triggering, and deceptive memories are with a powerful ending of Himchan shooting himself to finally move on from the memories.
24. B1A4 "Solo Day"
Agency: WM Entertainment
Release Date: July 13, 2014
The setting of the MV takes place in the sunny parts of LA, where the boys are seen enjoying their "Solo Day," but their day is soon ruined when they meet aliens at the beach. Although the lyrics are quiet gloomy, the overall theme and concept of the MV is bright and relaxing. Just like many of their past MVs, "Solo Day" is quite quirky, entertaining, and bizarre.
23. BTOB "You're So Fly"
Agency: Cube Entertainment
Release Date: September 28, 2014
The setting is a gas station with bright neon signs, a not so common place to find the girl of your dreams, but the boys of BTOB are seen brawling it out for a gorgeous girl who enters the convenience store at the gas station. The storyline is hilarious and whimsical, just like the boys of BTOB, and the viewers can enjoy four minutes of their adorable antics.
22. G-Dragon x Taeyang "Good Boy"
Agency: YG Entertainment
Release Date: November 20, 2014
This is one of the more accurately portrayed club party scenes coming from Taeyang and G-Dragon, who are known to include ridiculous settings and even more ridiculous scenarios. The neon lights reminds us of the typical lighting seen at a club or even a frat party, appealing to the public with relatable settings and feelings of stepping in a club. The point of the track as well as the MV is clear, to turn-up and just let your body feel the music.
21. San E x Raina "A Midsummer Night's Sweetness"
Agency: Pledis x Brand New Music
Release Date: June 11, 2014
The split screen shows the two different lifestyles of a man and a woman going through their daily life. Although they aren't related at first, the two soon find each other in the same room for a business meeting. Something about this video is heart warming and romantic. It is a typical yet not so typical progression of a relationship between two people.
22. GOT7 "A"
Agency: JYP Entertainment
Release Date: June 22, 2014
This is one of the more adorable and delightful MVs released by GOT7. The boys look natural and comfortable in their own skin as they chase for the beauty behind the counter. Although they aren't wearing the same pieces of clothing, the boys look clean, uniformed, and aesthetically pleasing. Lastly, GOT7's choreography is always fun to watch especially with Mark flying all over the place with his flips and JB with his b-boying towards the end.
19. EXO "Overdose"
Agency: SM Entertainment
Release Date: May 6, 2014
Following "Wolf," EXO is back with another one-take-type video where it gives variety to the shots by zooming in and out of the shots. Although it is the typical box dancing room that SM continues to recycle, EXO makes it interesting with polished and dynamic choreography. The transitions from member to member and then to the whole group is smooth and well timed.
18. Jiyeon "1 MIN 1 SEC"
Agency: Core Contents Media
Release Date:May 19, 2014
The MV for "I MIN 1 SEC" is truly outstanding and artistic as it switches seamlessly back and forth from regular filming to stop-motion. Slightly unnatural, but very natural at the same time. The constantly changing angles of the camera heightens the hysterical feelings that Jiyeon is trying to portray in the MV. Overall, very high quality in terms of production and the MV deserves a lot more merit than it has been receiving.
17. Akdong Musician "Give Love"
Agency: YG Entertainment
Release Date: May 1, 2014
The typical adorable, innocent, puppy-love, and minimalist vibe that only Akdong Musician can portray. The MV is a continuation from "200%" in which Suhyun is seen still crushing on her friend's apparent boyfriend. Throughout the MV, Suhyun is seen feeling jealous about her friend being so close to her crush. However, there is a delightful twist ending to the story and you can check that out for yourself!
16. VIXX "Error"
Agency: Jellyfish Entertainment
Release Date: October 13, 2014
VIXX's "Error" is like a well thought out sci-fi melodrama in just five minutes. With the cyborg concept, VIXX members introduces yet another refreshing concept to the industry. Hongbin and Youngji illustrate a tragic love story in which, in the end, they are left to be deconstructed by machines. The ending is quiet powerful as you can see the members shooting themselves with electricity so that they no longer have to feel the hurt.
15. Gary x Jung In "Bicycle"
Agency:
Release Date: August 31, 2014
Just like the song, "Bicycle" is full of clips that will heal your drained heart. With lovely, sentimental scenes of real couples riding their bicycles together and enjoying their day at the park, the MV warms viewers' hearts. The MV is rather simple and doesn't focus on a specific person or a couple, but it is insanely invigorating to watch as it makes you hope for a sweet relationship like the ones in the video.
14. MAMAMOO "Mr. Ambiguous"
Agency: WA Entertainment
Release Date: June 17, 2014
From the song to the MV production, "Mr. Ambiguous" has a consistent 60's retro vibe with vibrant colors and throwback fashion as well as a hint of modern day hipster with the mustache rings. What attracts the viewers in this particular MV is the multiple top name celebrities that are featured in the MV such as Baek Ji Young, Wheesung, and even Jung Joon Young. The MV has a change of pace when the girls are asked to sing in front of Baek Ji Young.
13. TEEN TOP "I'm Sorry"
Agency: TOP Media
Release Date: November 9, 2014
What really draws attention in this video is the classy and groovy choreography. There is nothing special in terms of location or narrative, but there is a definite rebranding of the boys as TEEN TOP break away from their initial image as young, rebellious boys. The boys look mature, and different panning of the camera increases the overall quality of the MV.
12. HA:TFELT "Ain't Nobody"
Agency: JYP Entertainment
Release Date:
This emotional masterpiece illustrates with chilling accuracy the hysteria and panic that one may go through when being cheated on by their loved ones. It just goes to show that at the core of it, emotions are the same for everyone. Yenny interprets the insane feelings through interpretive dancing, which is bewitching. Her acting is phenomenal, especially when she is roaming the streets with an empty but dejected expression on her face. You won't be able to get the full picture until you see the MV.
11. HI SUHYUN "I'm Different"
Agency: YG Entertainment
Release Date: November 18, 2014
No explanations are needed for this particular MV. Bobby is obviously the popular new boy in town who grabs the attention of two perky and innocent girls, Suhyun and Lee Hi. The two go through various ways to catch the attention and the heart of Bobby, following him like a shadow around the school. However, Bobby turns out to actually be a young casanova who knows very well his ability to bewitch girls.
