Singer Sean donated $100,000 USD to Yeouldol, a charity organization that donates to rare and incurable diseases for children.
According to YG Entertainment, Sean, as the co-representative of the Seung-il Hope Foundation, had donated $100,000 USD out of the one million dollars he had raised through the ALS ice bucket challenge to Yeouldol. The donation money will go towards the funds for constructing a sanatorium that specializes in Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Yeouldol was founded in 2002 and has been supporting children with rare diseases, garnering support and love from patients and their close relatives as well.
In regards to the donation, Sean commented, "For the past 4 weeks, we have raised a million dollars through the ALS ice bucket challenge. Even now, a lot of people are taking interest in ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. In our country, there are a lot of people who are suffering from not only Lou Gehrig's but other rare and incurable diseases. There is still a long way to go in order to build a sanatorium specifically for ALS but we want to give back to those who are suffering from ALS as well as other incurable diseases through the love and support that others have shown towards this disease."
He also added, "As the first step in trying to achieve a giving world and society, Park Seung-il and members of the foundation created in the name of sharing the dream of a giving world have decided to donate $100,000 USD from the million dollar donation they have received."
The ALS ice bucket challenge videos went viral via social media and the rules of the challenge is that you have to pour ice water over their heads and nominate three others to do the same within 24-hours or donate $100 USD towards the foundation. Sean also took on the ice bucket challenge with his daughters, and nominated Big Bang's G-Dragon, sportscaster Lee Young Pyo, and actor Jo In Sung to join him in the challenge.
