Will South Korea go extinct by 2750?

Buzz
According to various reports, South Korea is expected to go extinct by 2750 and has one of the lowest fertility rates in the world! (WHAT?)

Busan, home of many beautiful and admirable idols alike, is assumed to be the first to go extinct according to the simulation conducted by the National Assembly Research Service. The average Korean woman currently bears around 1.25 children but to maintain the current population of Korea (or replacement fertility rate), the average needs to be around 2.1 children. At these fertility rates, the current population of nearly 50 million people will be reduced to 20 million by 2100 and go nearly extinct by 2750.

Now, let me remind you guys that one of the hottest actresses in Korea such as Kim Tae Hee, 2PM's Wooyoung, 2NE1's Dara, CNBLUE's Yonghwa and Jonghyun were all born in Busan!

To make matters even worse, here are some possibilities of why there might be low fertility rates in South Korea.

1. Feminism. There's a lot of controversy surrounding the topic of feminism and why we should and shouldn't. But let's face it. It does exist and as a lady who takes pride in her work and her lifestyle, I would not be on board with the idea of bearing a child when I am totally not ready. There are dreams to chase and needs to fulfill!

2. The expenses of having a child. We live in a pretty tough economy where jobs are scarce but the expenses just keeps expanding. Supporting yourself, your significant other, and a child can become a pretty huge dent in your pockets. And not everyone will be able to take these hits, ever.

3. South Korean education system. Growing up in South Korea for students can become challenging with the impossible standards and expectations that society has already set. It's as if they are setting these standards for you to fail almost 99% of the times. Not to mention the violence within school grounds and the lack of regulations regarding the issue.

4. High Abortion rates. Abortion is technically illegal in Korea but South Korea has one of the highest abortion rates in the world. Abortions are cheap (around $150 to $200 USD) and fairly common, hurting the fertility rate.

But to end on a positive note, I would like to give a shoutout to all the ladies and gentlemen of South Korea. Please do us a favor and continue breeding more beautiful, sexy, heart-throbbing, omg-i-can't-even idols for us to indulge ourselves in!

Yes.
