It's said that many of the staff as well as cast members like Moon Geun Young, Kim Bum, and more, have yet to receive their payment in full for their appearance in the drama with a reported sum of hundreds of millions of won in payment still due to each lead star.
A drama rep stated, "Although it has been two months since [the drama] went off air, the cast has not received their payment fully yet. If you add the salaries of the supporting actors, the sum turns out to be huge. It is not sure whether the appearance fees will be paid off by this year." Another rep stated, "Not only the actors but there are also staff who did not get paid yet. Compared to the stars, the livelihood of the staff depends on their working wages so it would disrupt their livelihood if they don't receive their pay in full."
Moon Geun Young's reps responded to TV Daily on the 18th, "We are currently in the middle of discussion to receive the remaining pay for 'Goddess of Fire, Jeongi'." The actress' rep also confirmed to TV Report, "It is true that there is an outstanding payment yet to be received. We are currently in discussion with the production company K-Pax... It's not that we haven't been paid but our payments have been delayed. By closely discussing with the production agency, we are awaiting our payment."
With the issue being brought up in the media, the production company K-Pax revealed their official position, offering an explanation as to why this is the case. "The main actors of the drama had previously agreed to us issuing out pay to the supporting actors, extras, and staff first. [As for the rest] the pay is being delayed as the overseas contract for the distribution of the drama is taking longer than expected... We think it is unfortunate that the main actors' pay has been delayed... We're doing our best to solve this matter... As soon as we receive money from the overseas sales, we will pay out."
