Kim Sang Yu, the head of actress Park Bo Young's agency has been drawing attention for his cynical comment about 'Laws of the Jungle'.
Park Bo Young was appointed to join the crew for 'Laws of the Jungle 3' in New Zealand and Kim Sang Yu was also present for the trip.
On February 5th, Kim Sang Yu used profanity on his Facebook as he wrote that 'Laws of the Jungle' was fake, saying, "A fake program! What is this! This is worse than a television drama~ real variety plus documentary? Are you kidding me (profanity)? Forcing people to eat things they don't want to eat and catching animals and releasing them nearby to capture reactions? Go to New York's Central Park next time and catch a squirrel you XX."
He continued, "Choosing places they want to vacation to and drinking $1,000 worth of beer in their hotel rooms. Now, [they] just shamelessly drink at a bar. And this is supposed to be the program that won the best program award."
Kim Sang Yu's post was a serious blow to the credibility of the realistic variety show 'Laws of the Jungle'. A representative from SBS commented on this sudden statement saying, "This is nonsense. We are also very surprised by this sudden post."
The representative from SBS continued, "The actors and the production crew reside separately in the jungle and the managers and other staff members stay at a different residence. [He] posted on Facebook about drinking and partying there without double checking. Then, this issue made it into the headlines and the news spread."
After this became a hot topic, Kim Sang Yu took to his Facebook to apologize, writing, "I apologize for rashly creating a post that created misunderstandings." He explained the situation, "I see Bo Young every five days at the base camp after she finishes filming for 'Laws of the Jungle' and I felt regretful and sorry after seeing her having such a hard time. When they were filming at another survival area in the pouring rain and there was no news about withdrawing, I anxiously waited at the base camp while drinking beers."
"I finally saw Bo Young when the jungle team returned at night for safety and I felt resentment against the staff for not helping her. This led to me behaving rashly. The post was created out of frustration and worry and I apologize for creating any misunderstanding. I had a misunderstanding about the animals, which were actually used to film the insert shots. "
SBS also added, "Drinking with staff members as they move from location to location is a common occurrence," and "Everything filmed on this real variety program is true and we will keep it that way."
