After handwriting fans an announcement letter and releasing a stunning MV teaser, soloist ZIA, aka 'Queen of Ballads', has released her new mini-album, 'ANEMONE'.
Zia's new album features some of the nation's most well-known lyricists and producers such as Jung Suk Won, Jun Hae Sung, Duble Sidekick, Kz, and D'Day. The album title 'Anemone' refers to the flower, meaning "the pain of love" and refers to the idea that anybody can be in pain over love and breaking up, representing the theme of the emotional songs in the album.
The new title song 'One Year' was composed by none other than 015b's Jung Suk Won, who recently worked with Lena Park (Park Jung Hyun), Yoon Jong Shin, and IU, and was written by lyricist Choi Kap Won. '1 Year' is a ballad piece featuring an emotional melody consisting of piano and acoustic guitar; the song is about waiting for one's lover, and the feelings they experience throughout the year after their break up. Zia's voice expresses the pain and suffering that these lovers go through perfectly.
The first track on the new album, 'Locking the Door' is about a woman who has been hurt by a break-up and is hiding in her room to protect herself, locking her door, as well as locking her heart. The piece was composed by Loen Entertainment's Kz and written by lyricist D'Day. 'Even If You Forget Me' was composed by Jun Hae Sung, who wrote Baek Ji Young's 'That Woman' and Lee Seung Chul's 'Long Day' and is about a person's honest feelings to their ex-lover, expressing the pain that comes with separation.
Solo artist Huh Gak is featured in 'I Need You' and Block B's Kyung is featured as a rapper in 'Falling Teardrops'.
Recall that ZIA released featured ZE:A's Siwan in her music video for the pre-release track 'Tears Fall' last month, and for the mini-album's title track, "Only You", the music video features idols B.A.P's Bang Yong Guk and B1A4's Baro.
With this album, ZIA hopes to "bring joy to the ears of listeners with plenty of high quality ballad songs."
