Ever since news of their debut hit the spotlight, upcoming Stardom Entertainment girl group EvoL earned the nickname of 'female Block B' for being junior labelmates to the group.
Not only are they labelmates, but they share similarities in that they're both skilled in composing and writing music, which was demonstrated through their participation in their own album productions. As a way of expressing their anticipation towards the group, netizens have dubbed them the 'female Block B'.
Producer Cho PD commented, "They're of the same age group, but there's such a big gap in their debut timing that they haven't practiced together. Even when they chance upon each other at the recording studio, they have a somewhat awkward relationship where they'll greet each other by bowing 90 degrees."
He continued, "As much as Block B is known for producing their own music, people assume that they'll help the company's junior artists with their music, but that isn't the case. EvoL has been largely independent to the point where they came up with their own choreography so their music doesn't fuse with Block B's."
Further emphasizing their distinction from Block B, Cho PD stated, "The majority of the staff that participated in the album have differentiated themselves from their work with Block B in terms of production. Both teams have created a musical world completely of their own, so it's difficult for their music to overlap together, which is why I don't think it's fitting to call them 'female Block B.'"
EvoL is expected to debut on August 9th. Meanwhile, Block B is currently recording for their comeback album under leader Zico's production and Cho PD's direction.
