Kim Shi Dae, the CEO of Starship Entertainment, recently expressed his high hopes for Boyfriend's Japanese advancement in an interview with Star News.
Boyfriend kicked off their Japanese promotions with 'First Date with Boyfriend in Japan' at their premium showcase in the Budokan back on April 30th. Considering that they're rookies that haven't even made a debut yet, the number of love calls they've received and the quality of the treatment they're receiving are a bit surprising.
The CEO stated. "Boyfriend was able to start their promotions to a great start because of the support they've been receiving from their Japanese label. The Japanese representatives have responded positively, saying that their promotions have left an impression on them similar to the debut of Japan's famous idol group, Arashi."
Boyfriend will be promoting in both Korea and Japan for the time being before they release their Japanese album in August and start their Asia promotions in the second half of the year.
The CEO's tactic for international promotions include immersing his artists in the country's culture, meeting fans frequently through different performances, and gaining experience in the country itself. He's a firm believer in fitting his artists to the country's specific tastes and not the other way around so he leaves business matters to the agency in charge.
