On the April 23rd broadcast of 'Healing Camp,' Lee Hyori spoke about the six songs from her 4th album that were found to be plagiarized and caused much controversy at the time.
Lee Hyori said, "I had a heavy burden after 'U Go Girl.' I needed a song that would be even better then 'U Go Girl' and through an acquaintance I received a song from a rookie song writer and really liked it. I did not find out too much about the song writer and just took the songs."
She continued, "The six songs that were deemed to be plagiarized were not songs that were well known, nor did they have copyright restrictions. Even if we tried to find out about the songs it would have been tough. After releasing my 4th album I was accused of plagiarism and received an email form the original creator of the songs."
"The rookie song writer sent me 200 songs and all of them were plagiarized. I asked him why he plagiarized all these songs but all he could say to me was sorry. That song writer is currently in prison," she solemnly said, earning the sympathy of the MCs.
Lee Hyori expressed her feelings saying, "There were some rumors going around saying that I received the songs even though I knew they were plagiarized, but if that were true, I would have caused a lot of damage and would have to live with it. Those are ridiculous rumors. All I could do after my songs were revealed to be plagiarized was to drink at home. But through Kim Jae Dong's advice, I went through therapy and made myself not dwell on bad thoughts."
