It has been revealed that Kim Yong Hyun, a former Minister of National Defense and a key figure in the "December 3 Martial Law Incident," attempted to take his own life while in a detention center.
On December 11, Shin Yong Hae, the head of the Correctional Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, responded to a related question during a plenary session of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee. He stated, "At around 11:52 PM yesterday, a duty officer at the control room discovered an attempt to commit suicide in the restroom of the waiting area before the warrant was issued. The attempt was made using a string formed by connecting his undershirt and thermal pants."
He added, "The officer immediately responded, opened the door, and the individual gave up and came out. He is currently being held in a protective cell, and I have been informed that there are no health issues."
