Eugene has confirmed her next project nearly four years after the conclusion of 'The Penthouse 3.'
According to a report by TenAsia on April 17, Eugene will take on a lead role in the upcoming MBN drama 'First Lady.' This marks her long-awaited return to the screen since 'The Penthouse 3' ended in September 2021.
'First Lady' centers around the high-stakes divorce war between the President of South Korea and the First Lady, depicting betrayal, conspiracy, and truths unraveling amid a battle for power. The drama explores the meaning of desire and marriage through the separation of a couple who once held the pinnacle of political power. Ji Hyun Woo has been cast as the male lead. Although both actors debuted in 2001 and boast long-standing careers, this will be their first time working together, raising anticipation for this fresh pairing.

Born in 1981, Eugene debuted in 1997 as a member of the girl group S.E.S., earning the nickname “Korea’s Olivia Hussey” and widespread love. She met Ki Tae Young while co-starring in the 2009 drama 'Creating Destiny,' which led to a real-life romance and marriage in 2011. The couple has two daughters, born in 2015 and 2018. Eugene also showcased her happy family life through the variety show 'The Return of Superman' in 2015. She currently balances parenting and acting, pursuing both roles with dedication.
Eugene began building her acting career with the 2001 Lunar New Year special 'Singers’ Fairy Tales,' followed by hits like 'Loving You,' 'Save the Last Dance for Me,' 'Bread, Love and Dreams,' 'A Hundred Year Legacy,' and 'All About My Mom.' She especially left a lasting impression with her role as Oh Yoon Hee in the Penthouse series from 2020, which became a defining character in her career.
Aside from a brief cameo in Netflix’s 'Love to Hate You' in 2023, Eugene has been relatively inactive in recent years.
