Comedian Shin Giru has spoken out against the spread of malicious fake news about her.
On March 18 KST, Shin Giru took to social media to express her outrage, posting a screenshot of a fabricated news article with the headline, “[SHOCKING] Everyone told her to lose weight… Shin Giru found dead at home,” accompanied by an image of white chrysanthemums, commonly associated with mourning in Korea.
Furious yet unfazed, she sarcastically responded, “I could let it slide when they said I’d die within 10 years—because, well, no one knows the future—but this is just too much.” She continued, “My blood pressure is normal, and I just had lamb skewers today. The tomato egg stir-fry was so good, I was actually shocked.”
She then directly condemned those who spread such falsehoods, stating, “People who create and spread fake news like this, while others are desperately struggling to live, deserve divine punishment.”
Shin Giru has always been open about public concerns regarding her health. During a past appearance on MBC’s ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’, she revealed, “I get health checkups obsessively because I know my eating habits aren’t great, and I don’t exercise. I get tested every three months out of fear, but all my results—liver, stomach, colon, cholesterol—come back normal.”
As the spread of fake news targeting celebrities continues to escalate, Shin Giru’s case has sparked public outrage over the growing issue.
