
On March 6 KST, Kakao Entertainment launched the beta version of its new global fan communication platform, 'Berriz', soon projected to become an official competitor of Weverse.
Along with the beta launch, musician Jung Seung Hwan opened his very own Berriz community on this day, inviting his fans (known as US) to come and communicate with him on the new platform.
Kakao Entertainment stated, "Berriz is a modular platform which implements serviced optimized for IP to meet the diverse needs of fans. Its aim is to become a playground where fans around the world can freely communicate and experience fan culture. Beginning with Jung Seung Hwan's community, we plan to officially launch by the end of March and also gradually introduce community services catered to various IPs (artists)."
The beta version of Berriz also teased the next community opening soon, for Starship Entertainment's rookie girl group KiiiKiii.
Meanwhile, rumors of multiple Starship Entertainment and SM Entertainment (Kakao subsidiaries) artists transferring to a new fan communication platform have been going around since early this year. Fans suspect that artists from the above labels will begin transferring upon the conclusion of their respective contracts with Weverse Company.
