JTBC's upcoming drama 'Heavenly Ever After' is expected to break an all-time viewership record. With its 1-minute teaser videos surpassing 400,000 views, it has already set the stage for a major hit.
The upcoming JTBC Saturday-Sunday series 'Heavenly Ever After' (written by Lee Nam Kyu and Kim Soo Jin, and directed by Kim Seok Yun), is set to premiere next month and already generating much buzz.
The show tells the story of Lee Hye Sook (played by Kim Hye Ja), who arrives in heaven at the age of 80 and reunites with her husband, Go Nak Joon (played by Son Seok Gu), who has been transformed into a young man in his 30s. Together, they embark on a romance that transcends life and death.
The series has garnered immense attention due to its star-studded cast, featuring talented actors such as Kim Hye Ja, Son Seok Gu, Han Ji Min, Lee Jeong Eun, Cheon Ho Jin, and Ryu Deok Hwan. On March 18, the production team of 'Heavenly Ever After' released the third teaser video, which showcases Lee Hye Sook’s rocky adaptation to heaven and her mischievous actions that challenge the norms of the afterlife.
The teaser begins with the phrase “New Resident Lee Hye Sook, turning heaven upside down” and captures Lee Hye Sook’s unique presence in heaven. Especially notable is how Lee Hye Sook, who is flagged as a "person of interest" by the Center Chief (played by Cheon Ho Jin), causes unexpected events, grabbing the attention of viewers. One memorable moment shows her teaching a pastor (played by Ryu Deok Hwan) how to pose in a quirky manner while at church, humorously revealing her personality. Meanwhile, the innocent soul So Mi (played by Han Ji Min) has already adopted Lee Hye Sook’s traits, consistently bringing laughter throughout the teaser.
The Center Chief remarks, “Heaven seems more fun now, doesn’t it? A lot of changes seem to have started with Lee Hye Sook,” leaving viewers intrigued by his words. Lee Hye Sook, however, starts to suspect she may not belong in heaven, sensing her afterlife might be heading in an unexpected direction.
Then, one day, while under the Center Chief’s surveillance, Lee Hye Sook’s erratic behavior continues. Suddenly, mysterious grapes begin to fall above her head. The pastor warns her, “If you catch one more grape, you’ll truly go to hell.” Ignoring his advice, Lee Hye Sook catches the last grape, and at that moment, she falls not into heaven but into a dark, eerie place. The tension builds as she faces an impending crisis in this new and ominous location, signaling a major turning point in the story.
'Heavenly Ever After,' a highly anticipated 2025 release, has already generated significant interest, with its 1-minute teaser video amassing over 400,000 views. Attention is now focused on whether it can rewrite JTBC's all-time viewership rankings.
